On September 22nd, Glendale International School celebrated the 21st anniversary of the foundation of the parent organisation, Global Schools Foundation (GSF). The journey of the foundation began way back in 2002 in Singapore and today the network of schools have spread across 64 campuses in 11 countries.

The celebration began with students and teachers lining up in the football field adorned with Glendale purple hats forming a huge letter G signifying both GSF and Glendale. After this the student beelined for the school auditorium Windsor hall with their parents for a short programme. It began with a Quran recitation, which added a spiritual dimension to the celebration. It served as a reminder of the school’s commitment to nurturing not only academic excellence but also moral and ethical values. The tiny tots from Foundation Stage 1 and 2 and Year 1 lined up to sing a song which left the parents teary-eyed with overwhelming emotions. The school’s principal, Jasmit Kang, then expressed her gratitude and pride in the GSF community, saying, “Founder’s Day is a time for us to reflect on our past, celebrate our present, and look forward to our future. Today’s events have shown that the bond between the school, its students, and parents is stronger than ever. Together, we will continue to uphold the values and principles that our founder established.”. She then introduced Amol Vaidya, the country director, MENA region who gave the parents in attendance a glimpse of what GSF embodies. The programme ended with the students of Year 5 and 6 belting out a hit song and then the school anthem which was revealed for the first time.

But the highlight of the day was when the students and parents gathered in the school courtyard for a special tree planting ceremony. This year, to mark the occasion, students and their parents planted the first sapling of what will become a beautiful grove of trees on the school’s campus. The act of planting a tree was a symbolic gesture, signifying the growth and development that the school has fostered over the years. It was also a reminder of the responsibility we all share in nurturing and protecting our environment.

Founder’s Day at Glendale International School served as a reminder of GSF’s rich history and the bright future that lies ahead. It was a day of celebration, reflection, and growth, and it left a lasting impression on everyone who attended.
