A Glimpse into the Journeys of Glendale’s Founders
The Glendale Group of Schools was founded by the renowned Babukhan family of Hyderabad, noted for their venture, Babukhan Enterprises, which includes a diversified portfolio of businesses including coal mining, civil constructions, industrial development and textile, paper and vanaspati production. The family’s rich legacy was further glorified by Bashiruddin Babukhan who had significant contributions on the development of the education, real estate and infrastructure sectors. In 1985, he stepped into politics and was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Andhra Pradesh from the Bodhan constituency. He also served as Minister of Industrial Development, Minister of Education and Minister of Tourism.
Ms. Anjum Babukhan
Ms. Anjum Babukhan, the daughter-in-law of Mr. Bashiruddin, founded the highly-acclaimed Glendale Group of Schools in 2003 and served as the Director-Education till 2023 until it was acquired by the acclaimed Global Schools Group. Ms. Anjum, who completed Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education in Human Development and Psychology, is a thought leader, an educator and author.
Ms. Anjum has combined the best of the global pedagogies and developed an award-winning pedagogy named Multiple Intelligence that focuses on cultivating both competence and character. Ms. Anjum has received many awards and recognitions including the Women Educationist of the Year (South India) awarded by Topgallant Media as part of the Nation’s Pride Awards 2021, Indian Education Icon of the Year by TIME, Skill Awards and Visionary Leader Award granted by APAC Global Education.
